one of the best reasons to visit taos, take you time here. please support their efforts to expand the museum. a true treasure amid some very touristy stuff. then head to the plaza area and explore the tight back streets for the real taos.

The house that Nicolai Fechin built in early 20th century is a stunning masterpiece, a combination of old and new world. It's a lovely setting for the Taos Art Museum. This is a fascinating opportunity to look at the work of a group of painters who came to Taos because of its extraordinary light and sky. Excellent gift shop. Very... More

As other reviewers have written, the house here is the real star. Beautiful woodwork, lovely setting. The art is fine (although the collection at the Harwood museum is better), but wandering through the house makes it worthwhile.

Fascinating house. The art is interesting, too. A memorable site.

My fiance and I live in New Mexico and had been before to Nicholai Fechin's house, which is the home of the Taos Art Museum. We found that we could have our wedding there in the beautiful second-floor sunroom. It was a mostly cloudy/snowy day, but the sun came out for our ceremony! The art is wonderful: a changing gallery... More

My husband and I very much enjoyed the art exhibit, but the real show is the house. Nicholas Fechin built this house. Take the time to read and learn about its history and what it took to build the house at the time it was built. And don't miss the studio out back.

I visited here on Sunday morning, July 25, 2010. The full name of the museum is actually Taos Art Museum and Fechin House. They have a really nice art collection that I quite enjoyed. On the basis of the art collection, I’d say this is pretty close to being a “must see” and I do recommend it. But wait. There’s... More

This is a small art museum with quality paintings by painters connected to the Taos Society of Artists in the early 20th Century. At this cozy art museum,I saw fine paintings by Ernest Blumenschein("Taos Landscape"),Oscar Berninghaus,E.Martin Hennings,Walter Ufer,William Henderson,Leon Gaspard, and of course,Nicolai Fechin("Balinese Dancer").I also saw fine later paintings by Robert Daughters("Ben Couse"),Ilya McAfee, and Andrew Dasburg. The paintings in this art museum...
