My husband and I were surprised in the middle of a rural area to find this "museum". The Farmer's Museum really impressed me. It's a lot like Williamsburg in that it focuses on living history. That is, you are more likely to learn by talking to a blacksmith than seeing a display case of artifacts (although they do have some of this in the main building). This place doesn't look like much from the road, but give it a chance. The key is the staff: they dress the time period and are really working their roles throughout the museum---including boiling beef and making cottage cheese for lunch! I took my 2-1/2 year daughter to the Farmer's Museum this past weekend. I haven't been there in almost 30 years, myself. The museum was wonderful! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
