Very god snow conditions in spite of the warm weather
This 2012 Canadian spring break was quite warm and a few of the runs were closed as a result. While the resort wasn't busy at all due to the +10C weather, our family still had a great time skiing. We were able to get discounted tickets from the Cabin Fever Fest days by pre-purchasing tickets from various ski stores in...

Holiday Valley is a great choice for good variety of terrain for each skill level. There are wide slopes and long winding trails for each level of skier. I can start by skiing through the woods on a long beginner trail or and take a long intermediate trail later. Then you can mix things up on the wide export slopes...

Tons of slopes. Great conditions when we went. Wide variety of difficulty. I have been to this place dozens of times.
In particular stay away from the R&R Dude Ranch listed on the HV website. To say it is "rustic" is a stretch. Not only is it substandard (basically a glorified trailor with space heaters attached to the side of a barn ); it lacked basic cooking and eating supplies that one might expect to find in a vaction rental (say...

The weather has been very mild this past season so we were not sure if there would be enough snow or worse not enough challenging trails open. With a 750' peak, you would not expect the excitement and versatility of Holiday Valley. But it has a number of trails and a very friendly and competent ski school staff. The lifts provided high-speed access to various points across the mountain so that you can ski an entire day without seeing the base chalet. The snow/ice conditions are typical...

Holiday Valley is a good family ski area but their customer service lacks in several areas, starting with the parking lot attendants who direct traffic as far away from the main lodge as possible, even when there are clearly visible open spots much closer. The toothless hillbilly lot attendants blame it all on "the boss" who is nowhere to be...

This is the best ski resort I've been to. I usually ski in MI at Boyne, Shanty Creek, MT Holly... This place is way better. Lots of runs and fast lifts. Lots more to do for advanced skiiers than any MI ski areas. The moutain coaster was fun too. This place was wll worth the 5 hours drive.
Lots of Fun....great ski runs. Rented skis and the equipment was in great shape. Take a lesson if you are a newbie. It will get you pointed in the right direction.
