“Epic Short Hike in ADKs”

My favorite short hike in the ADKs. Only a 1/2 mile hike along a slow mountain stream to spectacular falls. Follow the trail another 1/2 mile down to Lake George for great swimming out to the islands. Google the photos of the falls.

Have hiked these trails for years...always a good time. Lots of trails from easy to moderate with great scenery. More and more people seen on the trails over the last few years.

Access is a bit tricky. By boat in the summer it is a snap. If you are walking it is a long hike . Folks in shape should have no problem. For the summer season this is a great place to get wet.

I was hoping this hike would offer a little more trail and/or direction. The waterfall is very accessible but if you don't catch it at the right time it is tough to get a good picture. I grew up in the area and return frequently to visit family, friends and of cousre Shelving Rock Falls. There two easy ways to get to the falls. First by car, take State Road 149 and head east to Buttermilk Falls Road it will be on your left. Just stay on the main road until drive over a small river... More
