We must have had a lucky day - when we walked down the couple hundred steps in May there was no donkey poo - we started down at l2:30, and quite frankly I am past AARP age, and had no problem; just take your time esp. in the heat A few donkeys passed us with their owners & I am... More

We stayed in one of the cave houses above Ammoudi Bay and from there see numerous visitors to Oia walking the steps I took the challenge one day set by my husband to walk the steps to Ammoudi Bay and back. Yes there are 200 plus steps but I managed to do it believe me it is easier walking up... More

Great fish tavernas and a good spot to embark on a sailing cruise or to hire a boat. Lots of stairs!

We ate at Kantin's and had a wonderful meal. I would have eaten there again but I could not do the walk again. Yes there are over 250 steps down to Ammoudi but that wasn't what turned me off, it was the smell of the awful donkey poo. On my way back, I almost felt ill because of the smell.... More

267 steps to walk down here and you have to tread carefully to avoid the donkey poo! We had refreshments at one of the restaurants and didn't try the seafood but would definitely skip the walk if we are in Oia again.

The 300 steps down to Amoudi Bay aren't a bad walk, except that they don't clean up after the donkeys. It can smell pretty bad and ruin your appetite. A taxi is 5-8 euro's. We ate at D'Mitri's one night. Service is outstanding, fish was very good. We ate at Sunset another night. They are supposedly 'famous' for their lobster... More

We traveled here on recommendations that it was good swimming and pretty. Pretty yes, but there wasn't much to swim from. The harbor itself has a quaint beauty to it, and the water is gorgeous crystal clear. But there really isn't much to do unless you are getting food at one of the many waterfront restaurants (in which case it... More

I spent a week in Plakias staying a nice apartment called Anna Apartments and Studios (www.anna-plakias.gr) and I rented a car. Plakias area is amazing with plenty beaches in a very close distance such as Ammoudi beach,.! nice place and quite! clear blue waters! Im definitely back!
