I suspect that if someone goes and spend some days in Thirasia, do some hiking and interact with locals away from the boat excursion crowds, will feel like s/he entered a different world. But going only for a couple of hours, eating in the seafront tavernas or ride the poor donkeys till top of the cliff and come back down,... more

Take the day trip to the volcano that goes to Thirasia because it's a beautiful view back to Oia and Fira and the fresh seafood lunch at one of the taveras will be an excellent experience! If there is time, ride the donkeys up to one of the quiet villages. more
