Envision the Air and Space Museum in Washington, except for the fact that the planes are actually flown and people can ride in a 1929 biplane. I lost count of the number of planes, dating from 1909 to the early 1930s that are housed on 110 acres. I am told that they own the country's oldest flying plane (the 1909).... more

The airplanes and the airshow are great - you sit closer to the airstrip than allowed anywhere else in the US because they have been in operation so long they are exempt from some newer FAA regulations. I have been to the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome with my kids at least 3 times. We have never been disapointed! The Biplane rides are magnificent but the shows and general feel of the place is are all wonderful. My wife and I recently spent 3 wonderful days seeing the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome, including the museums where many old aircraft are displayed, seeing both the Saturday and Sunday airshows, and even taking a ride in an open-cockpit biplane.
