This is another one of my favorite fort museums (Check out Fort William Henry, Lake George, NY) I stress as I did the other fort, let a guide lead you through the tour. You get so much more out of the tour, then just going off on your own... The museums are great, looking at the old rifles & the... more

On every visit to Ft Ti, I meet people who are seeing it for the first time and they are always impressed. Many reviews of the fort already, so I will add this for visitors. Check the fort website before you visit! There is a list of items not allowed in the fort including strollers and tripods. Picnic tables are... more

My husband and I recently visited Fort Ticonderoga in New York and had a wonderful time. We bicycled into the fort from our hotel (about 21/2 miles). The ride in was beautifully landscaped and we made a whole day of it, parking the bikes and walking all around the fort and watching the activities of the day. We had lunch... more

While staying in Lake George with family, my husband and I decided to go over to Fort Ticonderoga. We took the scenic route along Lake George, which was really beautiful...too bad it was raining. The entrance leading into the site is a longish sort of road through forested parklands with historic placards along the way. The fort itself is remarkably... more

A short ferry trip from Vermont. Full of Revolutionary war artifacts, costumed guides and docents. Cannon demonstration and a fife and drum corps. All were lively and informative. Fun children's center with activities for kids. Overlooking Lake Champlain, a scenic spot as well. more

My wife and I made a special trip to Fort Ticonderoga, only to find that we were refused entry because I had a tripod for use with my camera. I am not a professional photographer. I choose to use a large format (4x5") film camera that can only be used on a tripod. I was not given any explanation for... more

The fort has really nice displays that are well lit and easy to read. They have lots of really detailed cannons on display, but they have lots of wasps. My advise is be careful when walking around near the cannon displays. There are several areas were different masons must have been hired, because of the extreme difference in color and... more

Visited Fort Ticonderoga following stops at West Point and Saratoga. Had a terrific day, enjoying all the exhibits and special events going on there. We do a lot of historical sites and felt that this was one of the best we've been to at providing depth of information as well as fun, interactive programming for the kids. I would definitely... more

When you think about the typical cost for historical sites run by the National Park Service, the asking price for the privately managed fort of $15 a person seems a little on the steep side. Still, there are benefits of the additional cost which include frequent demonstrations and talks given by staff members, often in period costume. That and the... more

Fort Ticonderoga is a must see if you are in the lake George area. The fort was destroyed and has been rebuilt. There is a museum inside that has excellent exhibits covering the original construction, history and reconstruction. There are many artifacts both outside and in the museum covering the period when the fort was in use. They do a... more
