Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse is situated at the most south westerly tip of Australia, where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet off the coast of the Margaret River region. A famous maritime landmark, the tower stands 39 metres high – the tallest on the Australian mainland. Guided tours are conducted daily at the Lighthouse. The precinct features a visitor centre, interpretive displays, café and retail shop in one of the historic cottages complete with ocean views.

To stand on the end of a pennisula that divides the Southern Ocean frrom the Indian Ocean was memorable. Well worth braving the wind to explore this area. We did the lighthouse tour and then went and checked out the old water wheel and surrounds. Take the time to have a walk around the rocks at the water wheel, we saw some really cool creatures hiding in the crevices. Be safe though, the waves can be a bit ferocious.

We weren't sure we were going to drive to Augusta but the lighthouse tour turned out to be a highlight of my whole trip. The tour was informative and really interesting. We took our two small children to Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse and it was well worth the short drive from Margaret River. Admission was included in our Ultimate Pass we purchased at Lake Cave. Lots of history to learn about here, and the guides are very friendly. Restaurant is great if you want some lunch or just morning or afternoon tea....

The tour is fantastic .. feels almost surreal to be in that lighthouse while the guide brings alive the many historic moments the structure has witnessed. Cd get very windy, best to keep a hat / scarf handy.

At the meeting of the Southern Ocean and the Indian Ocean the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse has a fantastic setting. The 30 minute tour of the lighthouse is well worth the $17 fee if only for the views form the platform outside of the light housing. The history and detail of how it come to be built is mazing. It was very windy and quite remote really. There is a cafe there which you need to walk through to go out to the Lighthouse - didn't have the same impact as Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse at the other end of the Cape
