My family and I went there this morning, 2/21/07. What a HUGE DISSAPOINTMENT Hawksnest is!!! My family attempted to go skiing Dec. 28, 2006 at Sugar Mtn. They would not sell half day tickets before 12:30 so we had to get back in line. The staff at Sugar mtn. was not friendly or helpful. We were advised by locals to check out this ski area. It's a hidden gem! They have great terrain and the area is laid out well. Just about all levels of skiers will find what they are looking for here. Best of all, there are virtually no crowds. Hawksnest is North Carolina's best kept secret. more

We stayed 6 days in Banner Elk. We had a great time tubing at HAwksnest I like all the new things they have for tubing. We also went to Blowing Rock for their Winter fest.
