I paid over 500.00 for my family to take the 4.5 hour excursion. Yes, I upgraded to the "Crown Coach" and pre-paid for box lunches. I have been on this excursion before, but had some new family members with me this time that had never been on it. The best part of the trip is the stop over at Nantahala... more

From the "reception" where they only had one type of white wine available (no red at all), then you waited 45 minutes to board the train, to the windows on one side of the train that were so old that it was impossible to see out them, to the poor dilapidated scenery, can't say much for the ride. The food,... more

The advertisement was misleading. It suggested a lot more in views than you actually see. It was boring and un eventful. The only thing that was interesting was the class 5 rapids for rafting at the one hour stop so you could spend time and money at the stores. Most of the input during the ride was about the food... more

If you are looking for beauty, thrills, excitement and adventure in a clean and wonderous setting, you better go to Disney World. But if you just want the beauty and wonderous setting, then this is the attraction for you. Basicly, you can choose to see the fertilizer or the rosebay rhododendron and wildflowers. You can see a bunch of tree's,... more

Tuckasegee River-April Please don't let the title scare you away from this excursion. This excursion does not portray itself to be a movie set or a staged facade . (although there is a movie set included for free) we will get to that further in the review. Our ride began in the center of Dillsboro, NC. Arrive early to explore... more

I went last summer to the Great Smoky Mountain railroad with my husband, father-in-law and my 10 yr. old daughter. My daughter was ill before the trip. We attempted to get a refund, and the management was not only rude, but refused, even though they could see she was ill. My husband and father-in-law went on the trip. They said... more

I would definitey recommend doing this excursion at night! I could see where it would be a little more magical at night, when you can't see the majority of the scenery. Otherwise, you see one dilapidated trailer after another on a ride to the "North Pole" which is nothing more than a cluster of run down houses. more

We booked this excursion about a month and a half in advance, and judging from the crowd, I'd suggest doing the same thing. A short preface to explain the ride: This ride is based on the book and movie "The Polar Express". In the book, the main character is a young boy who is beginning to doubt about Santa. The... more
