We visited the lighthouse on 5/24/12. It was a very cool morning and we got there early, around 10am. It's 257 steps to the top but well worth it, the view is beautiful and I feel a once and a lifetime experience!

$7 fee to climb but great views up there. Interesting facts about life as a keeper and the move inshore to protect it. Must see when out here.

You have to climb to the top!!! The views are stupendous and the workout isn't bad either!!

The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is a fantastic place to visit!! Such beauty, my husband and I couldn't stop looking at it and snapping pictures. A great history lesson too!!

Learning about the history of the lighthouse was very interesting.

I had been trying to climb this lighthouse since the 1st time that I saw it in 1974. Each time I visited it was unavailable for some reason or another.
