You are given a choice of a wild and crazy ride or a slow lazy trip down rapids. I chose the slow and lazy ride down the rapids. Our guide got our raft stuck in the class V rapids and I was thrown from the raft. After much struggling to keep alive the staff threw me a rope several times to... more

I visited the Whitewater Center in May and had to come back. The park features a man-made whitewater river for rafting and whitewater kayaking, plus they have rock climbing, flatwater kayaking, zip lines, and almost 15 miles of mountain bike and hiking trails. The AllSport pass is only $49 and you get to do everything you can fit in in... more

The white water center was a complete waste of our time and money; we like to do a lot of different things and thought a center like this would be great, but after paying $50 each to get in and $2 every time you needed to get into your locker (and you need to at least 5 times) being nickeled... more

We were told there was a $25 all-day pass that could be used on any one item in the park. We naturally wanted to do the whitewater rafting, but this turned out to be on of the items you can picked for $25. So then we had to each fork out $50 for the day, after the $5 for parking... more

This was a surprise - the banks next to the Catawba River are actually very steep! This trail was a challenge, but also tremendously fun. There are a few tree roots to watch out for, but for the majority of the ride it was up hill, down dale, take another hairpin turn and then back up again, passing through trees,... more

Fantastic Center - so lucky to live close by!! Just wanted to drop you a line about WW Camp that my son participated in last week. I wanted to say that he has been to many camps (as a 9 year old) over the past couple years and this was his fourth camp just this year. This was his favorite... more

The daily or season all-sports pass is a great value -- unlimited use of equipment (kayaks, mountain bikes, etc) and unlimited whitewater rafting. My only complaint is the NWC nickel-and-dimes you once you're in for the day. Parking = $5, one-time-use locker token = $2 (realistically you need at least two tokens for each the men's and women's locker rooms,... more

Having survived class 4 rapids on the Great Pigeon Forge River in Tenn a few weeks ago , a friend mentioned the US National White Water Park in Charlotte . All he said was thats where they train the Olympic team and its now open to the public . Ok, so forgetting that my Sciatica hasn't healed yet from the... more

Visiting family near Charlotte with 2 high-schoolers and they had one and we decided to visit here for the day. http://www.usnwc.org/ It takes from noon or so when it opens til it closes so plan the day. All but one of the 6 of us were moderate athletes and decent swimmers. Doubt we would have found the park without our... more

We went on a rainy day because the trip was already planned. It was a little hard to find the center since there are new roads that the GPS didn't pick up, so leave a little early. The front desk staff was slow and rude (don't count on them for any help or advise), which started our day on a... more
