I thought this was a fascinating museum. My sons (5 and 2) were interested for the first half hour. There was a LOT to read and there was tons of information. I thought this museum was very good. It is not the largest museum, but it gives an interesting history of the Cherokee people. After a movie telling you about the Cherokee creation myth, it contains displays illustrating the conventional prehistoric archaeological time periods (Archaic, Woodland, etc.) and, while this section is interesting, the later sections dealing with the historic Cherokee... more

Kids enjoyed the village more, but I found the Museum informative. Could be more interactive. more

We found this museum interesting but a bit boring. We then went to Oconaluftee Village and wished we'd gone there first. If we had we wouldn't have gone to the Museum! We learned more at the village than at the museum. Our advice - go to the Village first then if you feel you need more do the museum. more

We visited the musem while on vacation. It was interesting to my husband and myself. However, our children ages 10 and 6 did not enjoy. They have a gift shop that was very expensive. Overall its one of those things you need to visit once. more
