Visited the NC aquarium a couple of days ago. What a great place to see. It has many different exhibits and aquatic animals to see. No large animals, such as whales, but most everything else. On Saturday, they have the baby animals on display and volunteers to talk about them. Most enjoyable, especially the baby sea horses and "Wilson" the... more

We visited this aquarium last weekend. I was not overly impressed with it but it's worth it for the price. They brag about this albino alligator which was really no big deal. In fact, it's just a freak of nature and actually should not be alive due to natual selection and survival of the fittest. Don't get me wrong--I'm glad... more

Upon entering the building you wander into a rainforest setting. I have to admit I was wondering if this was all there was to see. If so, I wanted a refund. After making my way around to the back double doors, you go into a nicely air conditioned area that was HUGE. With a two story tank at the back,... more

We (dad, mom, daughter 11 and son 7) visited in late August 2008. It was very fun. We were staying in North Myrtle Beach, and when the beach closed due to Tropical Storm Faye (I think) we headed north about an hour. We love aquariums, and wanted to explore the North Carolina coast. I used a wheelchair (mobility impaired) and... more

We visited the aquarium at Fort Fisher in early May 2008. It was me, my husband, our kids ages 2 and 8, and my mother. We were there right at opening on a weekday and there were only 2 other people waiting to get in. We were very impressed with the exhibits. The kids loved the touch area where the... more

My daughter and I had a wonderful time visiting the Fort Fisher Aquarium. It took about half a day to go through all the exhibits. We spent the most time in the Cape Fear Conservatory section enjoying the different exhibits. We had fun trying to find box turtles in the leaves, quail among the underbrush, and turtles in the river.... more

This aquarium is definitely not as nice as my "home" aquarium in Newport (Cincinnati). But it's also half the price. We had a good afternoon there - nothing spectacular, but a good time. more

We visited here on a lil weekend celebration of our First Anniversary. Was nice and cool inside, not crowded, good shows and everyone was really nice and informative. Would highly recommend! A Fort Fisher gem! more

We visited this on a hot afternoon, driving to Southport and taking the car ferry across the river. The aquarium is akin to an indoor botanical garden, having local trees/brush and local fish. It is gorgeous to walk around and admire the tanks and the alligators. The sea-side of the building is excellent! They have a touch tank and a... more

This aquarium was larger then I was expecting and I really had a good time. The price was very reasonable $8 a person is not bad considering every other aquarium I have been to charges you upwards of $15 a person and you are finished with them in half the time. In the area definitely give it a shot. more
