some of the best views you will ever see, bring a zoom lens. I am only writing this review because some of the other reviews give the wrong impression. Grandfather has many trails. Some are short (parking lot to the bridge can be measured in feet) and some are over 3 miles long. Some are hiking trails and some are... more

Because of the admission price, we almost passed over Grandfather Mountain. For whatever reason, we decided to check it out - mostly because we were hungry and wanted to stop for a picnic lunch. It turned out to be one of our favorite stops along the Blue Ridge Parkway! From the views to the animal exhibits to the mile high... more

I am 25 years old and I love the outdoors.... Grandfather Mountain was the most horrible experience of my life. The hike, which took us 5 hours was a treacherous climb. It was extremely dangerous. There were many points where I had to hold on to the mountain in order to keep myself from falling off. This is not a... more

Hiking not necessary...the road will take you to the top and the bridge is a short walk away. lower on the mountain is an animal preserve...where you can view a bald eagle, otters, bears and deer. Was an ejoyable day..Hiking trails and picnic areas are all available. more

The weather was beautiful, and the hike was an experience that you will remember with pride. Taking the strenuous crest hike as a first-time hiker was a decision that left me pretty sore, but the view and feeling of accomplishment override that easily. Every single step takes you to a new vision of the natural beauty of North Carolina and... more

we hiked both the daniel boone scout trail up to callaways peak and the grandfather trail to macrae's peak. This hike is very scary at points and if you dont like heights or hiking up the side of a cliff this mountain is not for you. we hiked at the end of march and there was a lot of ice... more

The drive to the mountain was very pleasnat but we were shocked to see there was a $17 entry fee to visit the mountain. $68 (4 adults) was a little steep just to walk the bridge...which would have been fabulous as it was a gorgeous day after a week of snow. Needless to say, we passed this one by. Realizing... more

The admission price to Grandfather Mountain on February 10, 2009 was $14 per adult, $13 for seniors. Anyone who believes they paid more should check their receipt and contact our company so we can correct the mistake. AAA discounts are also available.

My family and I (about 14 of us) went to Grandfather Mountain on June 23 and had a great time. The mountain is about 30 minutes or so from Boone and the entrance fees to the Park are well worth it. At the middle of the mountain is the wildlife exhibit, which is a great place for kids to see... more

I would recommend Grandfather Mountain to anyone in the area, it's worth the price of admission for all ages. Be sure to ask for the AAA discount also. One note: Make sure you are driving a reliable car with good transmission and great brakes, the short 2 mile drive will really challenge your vehicle in both directions. There is a... more
