Hiking not necessary...the road will take you to the top and the bridge is a short walk away. lower on the mountain is an animal preserve...where you can view a bald eagle, otters, bears and deer. Was an ejoyable day..Hiking trails and picnic areas are all available. more

we hiked both the daniel boone scout trail up to callaways peak and the grandfather trail to macrae's peak. This hike is very scary at points and if you dont like heights or hiking up the side of a cliff this mountain is not for you. we hiked at the end of march and there was a lot of ice... more

I would recommend Grandfather Mountain to anyone in the area, it's worth the price of admission for all ages. Be sure to ask for the AAA discount also.
