This was really worth the visit. We walked all on top of the sand dunes, and it was worth the short hike. Take your sunglasses, a hat, and a walking stick and you'll enjoy the walk so much more. Great place to fly kites in the OBX. And it's FREE. more

I read the reviews about Jockey's Ridge State Park and decided to go with my wife. This may be a good place to go with kids as they can run around to their heart's content. For a couple, I think it is definitely overrated. Particularly, make sure you put on suntan lotion on a summer day as you will likely... more

It will give you a workout climbing to the top but it is truly a sight to be seen and the sunset is gorgeous from on top. Fun for the family or for a quiet romantic evening with your significant other. Even if you do not like the sand you can drive by and take a look at these huge... more

My family of 4 live in VA but we go to the obx a few times a year. We have always stopped at Jockey'sRidge. Every trip, it is amazing to climb and see both the ocean and the sound. It is a little work out but even my 8 and 3 year old make it on their own, just a... more

Don't miss going to Jockey's Ridge, it's a site to be seen. Choose an overcast cool day if you have one to go, otherwise you will be sweating and tired out before you reach the dunes. Also be sure and leave 30 min. to run into the information building and view the displays there, even little ones will enjoy the... more

We enjoyed our visit to Jockey's Ridge. The views from the top of the dunes are great. You have great ocean and sound views. It was fun to watch the dune "sandboarders," hangliders and the kids flying kites. Lots of wind for those activities. Good workout -- not an easy journey for those physically impaired, however there is a viewing... more

This park was so different from what I expected, but was truly an amazing site! I had read about the dunes, but expected them to be rather small and unimpressive. Contrary to my misconception, the park proved to be one of the most unique locations I have been to. The dunes are huge and cover a rather large area, and... more

My boyfriend and I had went to the Outer Banks in September of 2007 and went on top of the dunes to see the sunset. It is quite spectacular from that point of view. We just went last week May 2008 and decided to go again to see the sunset. This time the sand was blowing so hard it was... more

My husband and I, along with our 3 sons vacation in the Outer Banks every year and we always stop at Jokey's Ridge, but this year we decided to do something a little different...and I'm glad we did! We went for a hike on a trail that leads to the sound. Eventually you are off the marked path, but that... more

We just came back from a week vacation in the outer banks-Duck. It was fabulous. We went to Jocky's Ridge after reading the reviews and all the positive feedback is correct. It is a sight to see. I wheeled my 2 year olds carriage down a wooden path to bring us closer to the dunes, left it there and off... more
