To be the most expensive highway in NC this was somewhat disappointing. Pretty views but certainly not any better than the Blue Ridge Parkway

beautiful views, lots of overlooks and photo ops noisy - lots of motorcycles
It takes you up to 5000+ feet and about a 20 degree temperature difference. We saw snow in late April. Very light traffic on a Monday afternoon. Only a couple restrooms. Several scenic overlooks and a few have trailheads.
Views not to be seen even on the Blue Ridge Parkway
A great drive with fabulous views!! We take the Skyway whenever in that area.
First time thru the Skyway and also a rookie motorcycle rider. Some of the best curves I have ever been on while riding my bike. Everyone needs to ride the skyway!!!
This is a nice drive with plenty of places to stop and take in the views. If you're into hiking, pick up a trail map to access some awesome waterfalls.
Loved the scenery, enjoyed a wonderful picnic along the way
Great drive up to the top of the mountains with some great stops along the way for exploring. Bad marking on trails once you cross into Tennessee.
The Skyway has always been one of my favorite motorcycle roads. It has enough public restroom and overlooks provided by the forest service without cluttering the nature beauty. You have Robbinsville, NC on one end and Tellico Plains, TN on the other. Both towns provide great places to eat and get gas.
