This is an outstanding and unique little museum and merits consideration if you are touring Sicily. The building itself is a windmill, the museum is amazing and the guide does an excellent job of explaining the process of making salt. And while I was skeptical of a restaurant that was a part of a museum (and vice versa), it was... More

The owners granddaughter Irena was really informative and it was very interesting to learn how salt is made. There is no snack bar there, although there seems to be a big function room, but for parties, not individuals. Which is a shame, because it would have been nice to sit and have a coffee. It was a pain finding the... More

Visited in September 2011 as we were in the area. This was a lovely little "living museum" and cheap entry but we found we only stayed 20 minutes or so - the drive out there through the salt marshes and flamingoes was the highlight!

Since we were young tourists, we didn't have a car and we biked there as recommended by a tour agency. Big mistake. It took us an hour both ways and we had to cycle by the highway half of the time and since it rained the day before, we were splashed with mud. The museum looked like a waste of... More

It is very nice to see the windmills and the old buildings. We got there and the museum was not open but the people were inside. A few other tourists were outside and we heard it was just one room with a few things. It didn't really sound like it would be worth 2 Euros to see, 4 for each... More

a short drive from Trampani to see the salt flats and, if you follow the signs, to get to the little historic salt museum. a guide will walk you though it and answer questions in English. The signs are in Italian / English so it's easy to understand and recognize the importance, over many centuries, of salt for the region.

We cycled here from Trapani this morning, and were very disappointed with the museum and the unpleasant people there. Having cycled in the heat, stopping to view the salt pans along the route, we were happy to eventually arrive at the very remote Museum of Salt and delighted to get the fabulous smell of grilled fish and garlic from the...
