I have been on ghost tours all over the world, and this is one of the best. A massive Victorian lunatic intact on top of a hill. The history presented on this tour is some of the creepiest in the country. Cannot be recommended enough!

I would recommend the ghost tour to anyone that is fascinated by these old Victorian Structures and interested in the early history of Australia. I had a real chill going through the men’s quarters, but what set the mood the most was the guy that was our guide. He was theatrical without being over the top, he was knowledgeable and... More

What an amazing experience. I am a psychic , and was moved by what I felt and saw . The men's ward was amazing and so sad. While we were in there and most of the group went not these small rooms. Stayed outside with my husband and asked him to take a pic of me, I was looking up... More

tour guide was nothing but annoying. didn't really tell us about any thing that actually happened there. he couldn't answer any questions so i assume he just repeats the same script every night. I had done the beechworth asylum a couple of weeks before which i enjoyed until this tour as they both told a number of stories which were... More

We went on a late night tour, with our tour guide dressed in creepy period style clothing. I had been looking forward to this tour as the building held such intrigue for me for a long time. I am thrilled to say it was everything that I hoped for, the tour took us through many buildings in the asylum including... More

I think many people enjoyed the tour, but for $20 I think it wasn't worth it. We didn't have access to many parts of the complex and the older history was patchy and in some cases inaccurate. Many opportunities for really interesting material were lost, for example the Ha.ha wall was pointed out but no background given. Much of the... More

During daylight hours the high iron gates of the Old Abandoned Aradale Lunatic Asylum are usually chained and bolted , but on certain evenings you may be one of a small number of guests to experience a torch led ghost tour.We were transported back to a time where these buildings housed the most dangerous" imbeciles", who underwent some of the... We went on the night-time Aradale Ghost Tour. Andrew is entertaining and knowledgeable, and runs a two-hour tour without losing the group's interest. He has many stories about individual patients as well as the general history of the asylum, and he recounts a few recent ghost experiences as well. No 'ghosts' are put on. Our tour took us through the... More

We went on a late night ghost tour of Aradale- the largest lunatic asylum in Victoria and the one destined for the worst of the worst. It was a functioning asylum until the early 90's. Our host Andrew was fabulous. Very knowledgeable and we were given an immense amount of info on actual patients, walked thru the male and female... More

My wife and I love looking through historical buildings and have been wanting to go on a walking tour through Aradale (Ararat's very own insane asylum dating back to the 1850s) for a while. We finally got the chance to experience the tour on a warm Sunday in November and I am pleased to say it was well worthwhile. Our... More
