Came to the Sanford area to play Tobacco Road, an interesting Mike Stranz design and rated by Golf Digest as one of the top 10 most difficult courses in the USA. Some say that the course is target golf or gimmicky since there are blind shots and a lot of risk and reward shots. Our foursome loved it since it... More

Made a visit to the Pinehurst/Sandhills area in the fall. We had a group of 4 golfers and teed off around 9am. Weather was a little sub-par, low 50's with some serious wind. Staff was polite and informative, but not overbearing. Course conditions were very good. This course may not be for everyone and is it a far departure from... More

I can truly say that I've played some of the very best - Old Course at St Andrews, Pebble Beach, Doral, TPC, Pinehurst # 2 and many many others but no course truly compares. It could be set up to the extent that half of the PGA tour wouldn't break 80. It is shotmaking and target golf at it's finest... More

Lots of blind shots suggest that you will want to buy the yardage book. Good condition. Control is a key to a low score here.

Played this course many times now and I still have to say it is one of my favorite courses to play. It is very challanging however if you play it smart you can score well. The staff is very friendly and always make you feal welcomed. All the guys in my golf group on our annual golf trip down to... More

On a trip to visit some friends in Rockingham NC I took a drive with my wife to play Tobacco Road golf club. Everything at this club was unique from the driveway, to the clubhouse and most of all the golf course. I have had bad experiences playing with my wife before as we are often rushed by marshalls or... More

I recently played Tobacco Road Golf Club for the first time and was thoroughly impressed. This is one of the most unique golf courses I have ever played. There are so many twists and turns and blind shots that it would be easy to get frustrated if it wasn't so beautiful and fun. Grab a yardage book for help and... More

As a beginner, I was way out of my league, but it was a beautiful day and I had a lot of fun. I definitely recommend to golfers of any level but bring a positive attitude because you are going to be challenged!

Yes, there are blind shots. Yes, there is as much sq footage of waste bunkers as fairways. Yes, it can be frustrating. Yes, it is tough. But it was fun from start to finish. Played with my 18 handicap father in law and my very high handicap wife and mother in law. All of whom enjoyed it. The starter did... More

Terrible golf course. Not the greatest condition. 6 gimmicky holes out of 18 holes. Several pins 15ft high because they can't be seen unless one is on top ofthe green. Starter has no idea about pin placement. Sand everywhere. Very treacherous walking up and down the steps leading to many greens. Need compass and map of the course to even... More
