Fort Dobbs is a beautiful site to visit. I had no idea the French and Indian War was fought in Carolina! They plan to rebuild the log fort very soon, which will be great! Right now, you can see artifacts in the small museum and speak with interpreters dressed as soldiers from the time. I know they have reenactments a... More

Fort Dobbs is an authentic historical site for the french and indian war. A few times a year they have trade fairs, which are fun for families, and once a year is the War for Empire, which features great battles (including lots of painted Native Americans, simulated scalpings, and guns). Rumor is that they are going to rebuild the fort... More

Not much is known about the F & I War and the westward movement of pioneers. The frontiers were truly wild. Ft. Dobbs gives us a peek into the history of this era.

Shows what soldiers, during this time was considered the wilderness, had to endure. The demestration of how the rifles worked during this time was very informative and noisy. The kids in the group loved it.

This "fort" is mostly a field where you can see where the fort used to be. There is an old (I think dry) well and occasionally they'll add something small to add to the visual interest. There is a small visitor's center, but check for open hours. At least twice a year they have a trade fair where people will... More

Make sure if your planning on visiting the "fort", which is actually an emtpy field where the fort was supposedly at, go to the website and find out when they are having an event. "War for Empire" is the best time to go, other that that there may be 6-10 people out there dressed like soldiers or indians, maybe some... More
