I visited the park on a Sunday. The weather was perfect. I toured the cavalry site, including the General Custer home. Our tour guide "Miss Ashley, the laundress" was very friendly and knowledgable. There is a guided tour of General Custer's home and self tours of barracks and stockade battlements. Barracks contain bunk beds, foot lockers, and period uniforms and weapons. There are separate locations for... more

Excellent example of re-enactor presentation of history. the "soldiers" help transport you back in time to understand operations of a cavalry post during the Indian Wars and imagine yourself as a visitor to Gen. Custer's home. His house is furnished as if he had just stepped out and there is a soldiers' barracks and mess to explore. the few buildings... more
