A gem tucked away across the bridge in Canada. So well-kept. Make the road trip circuit around the place and be amazed at the scenery.

Take your passport and drive across the Roosevelt Memorial Bridge to Campobello Island. The Roosevelt "Cottage" is a beautiful, well-preserved historical treasure -- certainly worth the time to drive over for the day. The docents are well informed, and they allow you to move through the house at your own pace. We enjoyed learning about the history of the Roosevelt...

Very interesting! Too bad the house was closed as of early Oct.
The house and grounds are kept impeccably well. The guides are knowledgeable and friendly and courteous. A "must see" on any tour of the island.
My wife and I enjoyed "Tea with Eleanor" served by Carolyn and Debbie on Sept 20, 2011. Tea and cookies were delicious, and the presentation by the two ladies could not have been any nicer. Both of them are so knowledegable. We have been coming to FDR's beautiful island for over 30 years, and learn something new each time we...

We visit Maine every summer and for years I have wanted to make the drive to Campbello Island. This year we did it! I love historical sites so I really enjoyed it but I can't say that for the whole family. It is a long drive from the Bar Harbor area and I'm not sure it was worth the drive,...

I came over from Lubec for a few hours one day. Walked through the visitor center and very large home there. I also walked a trail while I was there. I saw many things to photograph and saw very few people, in the house and on the trail. It was very peaceful and relaxing and gave another glimpse into a...

Roosevelt Campobello Island International park is free and is definitely worth a detour. We saw the film at the Visitors' Center and then toured FDR's summer home which is complete with period furnishings. We also enjoyed the architectural features on the Hubbard Cottage next door to FDR's house. We also drove out to East Quoddy Lighthouse. The lighthouse is on...

Interesting look at FDR's earlier days. Free. Walk through the house and grounds. Worth an hour. The carriage trails are mildly interesting. Great places for picnics (limited restaurants on the island). Best place though was the far (northern?) tip of the island. Lighthouse on a small rocky island that can be reached (it appears) at low tide.
Bring a camera for nice memories...we took the ferry to Deer Island and drove to the end to take the ferry that brought us to Campobello Island. We were there for the day only but had left early in the morning and only got back in Shediac late that night. Beautiful weather that day, the water views were very nice...
