After spending 15 days in Quntana Roo I have to say that our day in Coba was one of the best. Not that far away from Playa del Carmen (about 1-1/2hours by rental car) it is situated within the jungle. It was just amazing!!! The first thing you need to do is rent a bike!! It's a completely different experience.... More

I would highly recommend the trip to Coba but would NOT recommend BETINA TOURS as the tour group. Our pick up was 1/2 hour late - ok, Mexican time - but then we waited in the van with one other family for 40 minutes outside of (what we thought) was a hotel for 2 other groups. No information was given... More

What an excellent excursion to do if you are in the Cancun/Playa Del Carmen MX area. I visited Coba in March, 2012 with my husband and his parents and we all loved this day! It included the following...Mayan Ruins of Coba, swim in the Cenote (underground cave with natural water), authentic Mayan lunch at a simple outdoor "restaurant”, a musical... More

I went on the Coba Treasures Excursion while staying in Riviera Maya in May 2011. We decided to take this tour instead of Chizenita because it was closer to our resort and highly recommended by the hotel. Chizenita was a 13 hour day tour, 3.5 hour drive each way... Coba was a 1.5 hour drive each way and definitely worth... More

These ruins are much more impressive and compelling than the more famous ones on the beach nearby. As an added bonus, they are set in the jungle so you can get that experience (we saw some lovely birds and even cooler a swarm of army ants devouring everything in its path). The site is spread out, but it's easily walkable... More

This was a great tour but I was under the impression that we were going only to the ruins. It turns out that when we got to the village we had a lot of walking to do. Not bad for me but with the older people in my group- it was terrible. They wouldn't have gone if they knew that... More

Long ago, chichen itza was quiet and a bit off beaten path, and you were free to climb and explore. Today, it is crowded, commercialized and steps long closed off. Coba offers still some of the adventure Chichen Itza has lost. The climb up Coba's largest pyramid is worth the trip, but unfortunanately is rumored still to close. As for... More

Coba is a collection of Mayan ruins. Buy a little guide book at the gate, which will explain what each site means. The site is huge - and there is a LOT of walking. You can rent a bike or rickshaw at the gate, if you like. The main ruin is quite tall and is climable. But this ruin is... More

The tour through the Mayan village was an experience in itself, just seeing how the Mayans lived/live was amazing. Pictures just cannot show everything. They show you local cooking and huts interior. Also, they keep a bunch of domestic animals amongst them such as dogs....however they are not kept as pets but rather to warn them from intruders(pumas and jaguers)... More
