These ruins are much more impressive and compelling than the more famous ones on the beach nearby. As an added bonus, they are set in the jungle so you can get that experience (we saw some lovely birds and even cooler a swarm of army ants devouring everything in its path). The tour through the Mayan village was an experience in itself, just seeing how the Mayans lived/live was amazing. Pictures just cannot show everything. They show you local cooking and huts interior.
