Is located in the east side of Yucatan, between Merida and Cancun. Ideal place to visit archeological sites like Chichén Itzá (New 7 wonders) at 50Km, Ek-Balam at 27km and Coba at 60km. Also you can visit natural reserves like the Biosphere of Ría Lagartos, to observe flamingos and birds; and Punta Laguna sanctuary of spider monkey. « less

A nice and well preserved colonial town in the middle of the Peninsula. Great place to make base and visit nearby attractions. You can you north, east or west to visit Mayan ruins as is centrally located to Coba, Chitzen Itza and Ek Balam, as we did.

We spent a night in Valladolind on our way to Chichen Itzá and we loved the town, it is quiet, and it has that feeling of a typical Mexican town that you can't find along the Riviera Maya. It is well worth to spend the night and go for a walk or have a paleta on the main square and... More

This is a real nice small town near Chichen-Itzá. It´s one of Yucatan´s main cities. Take time to walk around the city and eat at one of their restaurants....I highly recommend the longaniza and the "Lomitos"....all with hand-made tortillas.

I really enjoyed Valladolid. The people were friendly and the atmosphere laid back and hassle free. The square is a great place to chill out with a beer. It was really easy to get to Chichen Itza from here by collectivo - which cost very little and left early enough to be able to be the first one in to... More

This little town between Cancun and Merida is a real gem of a place to visit. Lovely stores around the square, good restaurants, and a very interesting history.

What a charming city, typical of the Mexican heritage. Got up early one morning took my camera and went about the city, churches, parks, people, kids going to school plus the sunrise. Wow!

If you don't like Valladolid, then you don't like Mexico. Charming, friendly people. Great authentic cuisine. Clean hotels. Easy access to nearby sites.
