I just came back from Whipsnade Zoo today - it is really worth going in November on a crisp, clear day just when the off-peak prices are charged and cars are allowed free into the zoo (saving a further £15). We arrived at 10am and didn't leave until 3.30pm and managed to see all of the animals because we were... more

One of the best zoo's I have ever been to (and I've visted plenty) the place is huge. We took advantage of the free bus which is very handy. The bird show was excellent and a lot of fun. The sea lion show was not quite so good as unfortuntaly one of them had died recently and the younger recuit... more

Whipsnade zoo is a fantastic place and unlike most other zoos. It provides its animals with huge enclosures and the park is set in lovely grounds. There are lots of animals to see here and many species that I haven't seen anywhere else. Look out for the sloth bears near the tigers, which are excellent. Conservation is clearly top of... more

We ended up 'finding' Whipsnade whilst we were looking for somewhere else nearby. We were really fortunate it was a glorious day and whilst pricey, at least my daughter was just under 3 at the time thus she got in for free. The place is massive and what we hadn't packed was the buggy which clearly would have been a... more

We visited the zoo this week for a day out. Luckily it was sunny, on a bad day people must get soaked as there is so much walking to do. As another reviewer mentioned, some of the animals are so far away they are difficult to see. It is good that they all have large areas to move around in.... more

£18:00 each to get in, very expensive, we then proceeded to walk round the habitats some of these were empty. Of the ones that had animals they were too far away to see (best take some binoculars next time, if there is a next time). Its a large area with so few and far wide spread of animals. This place... more

Lovley grounds, improving areas for the inhabitants, loads of space to relax. Catering poor, cooking beef burgers, Bacon , and other things on same griddle at the same time, plastic burger buns ( claims to be bread product) swimming in fat and grease, Unedible. more

I was apprehensive about visiting this place after reading some of the reviews. However I found Whipsnade to be a great zoo. I've been to many zoos in North America and Britain, and found that I got better views of the cheetahs, rhinos and giraffes than in much better known zoos. The zoo buildings have obviously seen better days, but the... more

I am at a bit of a loss to understand the two negative reviews below. I have been to numerous zoos, from third world hell holes in Burma to award winners such as Singapore, and to my mind Whipsnade is one of the best. It's expensive to get in, at £15.60, but then most wildlife parks are, and there are... more

Visited Whipsnade early August 2008 and really wish we hadn't bothered! Having travelled down from the North East & stayed overnight in a hotel i feel so let down by the Zoo. It can really only be described as shambolic, firstly there doesnt seem to be any really defined pathways around the park, with a pushchair you're expected to offroad... more
