What is there is interesting, if it was up to me I would include more historical subjects and artifacts relating to Widnes and make it a full blown museum.

Loved Catalyst! Rainy day......looking for something to do, so decided on catalyst.....very interesting Museum of the chemical industry that held all our interest! Loads to do for all ages....tots to teens...to oldies! All interactive activities were pitched at a good level and a couple of hours passed very quickly. Had the weather been brighter, next doors spike Island looked great... More

I visited Catalyst with my 10 year old nephew over the wet and windy Easter holidays. The workshops were great value at just £1 each - simple enough for younger children to follow, but interesting and entertaining enough for older kids to enjoy. In the museum itself there are plenty of things to push, pull, poke and play with -... More

The Catalyst Science Discovery Centre was amazing! When we arrived we were told about the Easter workshops that were available, at a charge of £1, one about chocolate and one about eggs.We booked for both, and after enjoying some tasty soup in the cafe we made our way to the pay desk to meet up with the Chocolate Workshop group.... We found this place on Google and we were unsure how good it was, when we arrived we found it to be FANTASTIC, not crowded, kids under 5 were free which was a bonus!! the interactive displays were great and good if you want kids to learn things instead of sitting in front of the tv all day!.. We went... More

Visited Catalyst last Saturday with my husband and his 11 yr old son. Easy to find and well located just by Spike Island (which I had never heard of but was very picturesque!) Ground floor exhibition was full of hands-on experiments and my stepson thoroughly enjoyed it. We then went up to the 4th floor observation room in the glass... More

I have visted the Catalyst with my family twice. I find the Catalyst very hands on for younger children, who don't really understand some of the more complex information, they just like to flick switches and do the jigsaws. The science is more appreciated by those of 8 and over, I feel. Catalyst is set in West Bank, a historically... More
