I'm biased as I have the privilege of looking out over St Bees Beach every day from my house, but saw this on Trip and thought worth adding my halfpenneth worth. The west coast of Cumbria is stunning, and although some may be put off by Sellafield close by, it does not overshadow the majority of the coast at all.... More

Plenty of sand here when the tide isout, a nice location for a stroll, maybe pick up a icecream from Hartleys too (awesome). Good waves when the weather is a bit rough too.

St Bees is only a 10 minute drive from the Howgate, plenty of parking (pay and display) and never crowded. You can visit the beach cafe and watch the world go by, prices are reasonable and the icrecream is one of the best in the area. Walk on the wide expanse of sandy beach, study the rock pools, search for... More

great parking, amazingly clean toilets and baby changing, play park, clean beach, toilet area for dogs, picnic tables, cute little tea shop selling home made cakes, scones and family made ice cream in loads of scrummy flavours, thoroughly enjoyable!

We visited on a dry though cool day and the beach was lovely. My 3 year old daughter had great fun in her wellies jumping in rock pools and collecting stones and pebbles. The sand was nice though as it was low tide was too wet to make sandcastles. There is also a nice play park next to the beach suitable... More

Loved being able to sit on the wall in the sunshine and watch the world go by-didn't like so many dogs being off leads and fouling on the grass! Watch where you walk.!!
