Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had a wonderful time rock climbing for the first time, and mountain biking through the beautiful landscape

The instructors Matt and Ben were great, Ben especially was very patient and helpful :)

We booked a 3 1/2 hour climbing session for our 3 kids. They had done bouldering inside but had not all experienced outdoor climbing before. Ben was a great instructor, really patient and encouraging and the kids had a great time, even if the weather wasn’t at its best! Thanks for a great experience.

I did the 2 day introduction to rock climbing course. Ben the instructor was great and really friendly, ensuring that all people on the course had something catered to each of our capabilities. I learnt a lot throughout, all questions were answered clearly and I was taught all safety aspects as well as lots of great routes and tips. Such a fun course where I finished feeling confident to go and climb outdoors with experienced friends. Thank you!

My Son and I took part in a 2 day rock climbing course. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience due to the marvellous instruction from Dan Hoyle. Dan's expertise gave us the confidence, knowledge and ability to perform rock climbing. He helped us overcome our nerves, offered valuable advice, gave us ways of adapting to the different situations and always with safety in mind.
Through my experience of being a dance teacher I can really appreciate the expertise of Dan as an instructor.
Ist class coaching Dan! I just can't recommend you and Peak Mountaineering enough!

I went on the one day learn to lead sport climbing course. The location of horseshoe quarry was great and I learnt everything I needed to know about sport climbing outdoors. I am now confident to independently sport climb outside which is great!! Paul was fantastic and answered all my questions. The 2-1 ration worked really well and enabled me to really squeeze all the knowledge out of Paul. He is the only guy operating this format as a one day course in the vicinity as far as I can see and the price is incredible for what you get. I will be back for trad. Thanks

My 13 year old step son went on an individual climbing day with instructor Dan Hoyle. He’d never done outdoor climbing before and he had a brilliant day. It was paced very well and Charlie felt challenged but not overwhelmed by the climbs. Dan was friendly and Charlie and I felt very confident in his ability to keep him safe and in his teaching. Charlie is very much looking forward to his next chance to get out on the rocks - thank you

I recently attended a 16 Hr Outdoor First Aid course. It was a well structured and enjoyable 2 days, with a good mix of practical and theory.
I particularly enjoyed the sessions where we considered what equipment we would have with us in the outdoors that could be used to improvise in some emergency situations, such as a broken leg..

I attended the self rescue course for climbers. I recommend this course to climbers highly. We went through a series of skills which are very important when you go outdoors for climbing and find yourself in a tricky situation. I feel more confident to face them know. Our instructor, Paul Lewis, was absolutely fantastic.

The Climbers Self-Rescue course was just excellent.

A long day filled with information but taught in such a patient and clear way by Paul that even through the jelly-brain moments much of the information has stuck.

We covered various ways escaping the system, abseiling past a knot, ascending ropes, assisted and non-assisted hauling techniques, and a review of various gear and gadgets that can help. The course content was tailored on the day to our experience levels, which was the perfect approach.

Following the course Paul followed up with an email filled with links to extra information and the offer of always being available to answer questions and even give advice on future climbing trips.

Just finished a Learning to Lead Climbing Course this weekend, led by Paul. It was a really wonderful experience and built up very nicely. With only two people on the course, there were so many opportunities to practice the techniques and ask questions. Paul is a great instructor with a wealth of knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for passing on his skills. I've come away feeling much more confident and competent when it comes to climbing outdoors. I would highly recommend Peak Mountaineering! They will definitely be my go-to for any future courses.
