I went with my sister and her three kids aged 9/11/13 and we had a great time. We sat in first class :) Its a shortish train ride from Wirkworth to Duffield but the views are lovely. All the children loved it. Definitely worth a visit, its a little piece of British history.

Lovely restored heritage line run by enthusiatic volunteers. Well worth a visit as the journey from Wirksworth to Duffield is pretty. Added attraction is the connections to mainline to London.

Arrived in time to take a train to Ravenstor - steam engine in charge. After eating in the cafe we went for an amble around the site prior to taking a round trip to Duffield

Ecclesbourne Valley Railway is open on Saturday/Sunday and Wednesday's from 28th March to 31st October. Travel by steam train to bring back memories of old. I had forgotton how plush some of the seats were and that sound of steam and diddly de, diddle de as you amble along the tracks making sure sheep are off the line. A pleasant... More

Our wives bought the "Ecclesbourne Valley Rail Experience" as birthday presents which was used last week. We are not particular rail enthusiasts but would always take an interest in rail museums etc. The day, which lasts 6 hours, started with a short introduction into the history of this community owned and locally managed run railway, and safety aspects. There were... More
