I enjoyed my visit to the South River Vineyard. As many have already mentioned, the winery is in an old remodled church. The stained glass windows are pretty, and the setup is fun with the old pews. Staff was attentive, and our samples ended up being free, since we then ordered glasses of wine.
There was a variety of wine,...

You feel like you are overlooking the vineyards in Europe! This is a small church that has been rebuilt in the heart of wine country and then they've added on terraces, it is breathtaking! And the wine is superb!
If you could only choose one winery to go to in Ashtabula County make it this one. Just do it (:
We drive an hour and a half just to get to South River whenever we can find the time to do so. The tasting room is a meticulously restored church that's over a century old. It was saved from demolition, taken apart board by board, then restored in its current location at the winery. Recent additions to the building provide...

We ASKED the bartender if we could go out to the pavillion / fire pit to drink our wine. She replied, "SURE!" and commented that she wasn't sure if the...

This is a must visit small winery. It is a real gem. The wine is excellant. I would recommend the Pinoit. It was a beautiful sunny Oct evening. The place was backed. It notices that many people had packed a picknic basket and were enjoying the great wine while having a picnic under the shelter. The old restored white church...

South River is fast becoming one of our favorite wineries to visit in the entire Geneva area. It's grounds are beautiful, they have a variety of seating from the indoor 'old church' tasting room, to the romanesque deck, to the separate covered picnic pavilion with fireplace. We brought our own picnic for a friends get together, and thoroughly enjoyed our...

This was our first stop in a little 'tour' of vineyards. I absolutely loved the atmosphere at this winery. An old church was moved and restored and houses a few tables, pews and the tasting bar. The wines were very good as well. I personally highly recommend the Semillon. I loved the patio and view from the pavilion was spectacular....

Didn't taste the wine BUT walked the outside seating areas...wonderfully romantic and beautiful. And, they will let you bring your own food and wonder amongst the property to picnic.
