Well organised and managed multi-storey museum. Traces history of each part of East India. Evolution, traits, lives, culture, eating and livelihood, cultivation, tools, implements, traditions well explained. this place will make you completely understand everything about the north east and about specific cultures. it is maintained and managed well. its a must visit when you come to shillong. the sky walk will give you a wonderful view of mawlai.

dont leave shillong without a visit to this beautiful and HUGE museum on subjects anthropology to science to religion to North east cultures and tribes.. and what not! 7 - 8 floors worth of information!
Good place to know history and culture of north east states. Very well maintained. They also show a nice movie on traditional dances of states. There is nice small skywalk at the roof which gives a good view of shillong.
A must see for those wanting to get a glimpse of social and cultural life of the various tribes in the north east
