About
Run by volunteers, Fishermen's Lifeboat Museum (previously called Fishermen's Heritage Centre) displaying a rowing and sailing lifeboat operated by a large crew of fishermen in its original lifeboat shed plus various lifeboat and fishing artifacts and information panels in an adjacent room. We would like to open from 12 noon to 4 pm daily, but owing to the retirement of some of our previous volunteers following the Covid shutdowns and unexpected illnesses at present, closures will be far more frequent than we would like until more volunteers come forward. Please see our Opening times page for details.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A great display about the private lifeboats of Sheringham and the lives of those who crewed and funded them. One of the boats is on display along with some ganseys and interesting nicknames

The fishermen’s Heritage Centre contains the original wooden lifeboat. It is beautifully looked after and could tell some stories of the good old days. There is lots of information about the crew of the boat and stories to read. This is free to look round and a donation pot is on the way out.

A small free museum housed in what seemed to be the old lifeboat house. Tells the story of the local fishing industry and displays an old rowing and sail lifeboat. Well worth leaving the promenade to have a look one afternoon.

This is a small museum that is free to enter. there is so much information here that you could easily spend an hour or more reading it. The exhibits are well laid out and very informative on the local history. If you like maritime history this is a must. There is a donation box it is just in the wrong place. we did put some in though.

This little museum is well worth a visit. Not only do you view the old lifeboat,, but the information boards tell fascinating stories of the people who lived in Sheringham, and the courage they displayed. I was touched by the sight of the Kapok jackets the heroic Lifeboatmen wore as they rowed out to sea. Thank you to the volunteers who keep this heritage centre and the stories of Sheringham alive.

Visited recently ( live in local area ) what a lovely little museum, full of history, well laid out. huge rowing lifeboat takes centre stage. Certainly makes you think about the bravery and strength of the crew.
History of Sheringham Lifeboat, how it started and its crew through the ages is well depicted on the walls.
All operated by volunteers... Admission is free but please give a donation to keep it all going.
