The males in our party could have spent all day in the Motor Museum. Even the ladies relived their youth looking at the 1950's cars. We all enjoyed the James Bond Exhibition, but found the Top Gear exhibition area too hot, with no chairs available, so we decided to leave before the show started. The grounds are lovely, we enjoyed... More

No charm or atmosphere. Just dreadful. Went round in 5 minutes which was 4 minutes too long. I pity the poor people dressed up as retainers. What is that about. Snobbery or insanity. The furniture is poor quality and why it is called a palce is beyond me.

On a wet April day we visited for a day out where we could be under cover for much of the time. We were most impressed by the lay-out, firstly the reception then visiting the Motor Museum which was most impressive in both old, modern and the fantasy cars of James Bond. After an hour or so here we moved... More

Had a fantastic day out in and around the palace. Staff were friendly and helpful. We started with the Top Gear Attraction then went into the palace. The guided tour at the cost of £1 each (payable to the guide) was an added bonus, we learnt much more about the Families history and the story of the model for The... More

The monorail was pleasant, with lots to see and a very pleasant day out. The palace is very interesting with lots of history, with a... More

Visited the Abbey and Palace as an adjunct to a visit round the National Motor Museum. The portraits upstairs provide an interesting insight in to Lord Montagu's family life but there was a yet more illuminating photographic exhibition in the Kitchen highlighting a year in the life of the Estate and local community. The costumed staff did little to engage... More

Hardly saw any of the house which was a shame - lady in there was very rude to my son when he went up and asked for a pencil to fill in his easter questions form. Gardens and abbey are really pretty though

The Palace House was obviously originally moated, and this is still visible. Inside there are a large number of fascinating momentoes of the family and the way that they used to live. The ruins next to the Abbey were of great interest, although we didn't go into the Abbey itself. The monorail gives an interesting overview of the site, and... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your visit to the Beaulieu Palace House and Abbey. You are indeed correct in assuming the Palace House was originally moated. John, 2nd Duke of Montagu, enclosed Palace House with a moat in the 1700s when he extended the house. Whilst the moat had a drawbridge and small tower... More
