The castle is a romantic double moated 13th century castle which houses historic 16th century portraits, paintings, furniture, tapestries and treasures. Comprehensive information on the history of Hever Castle can be found in the guide book and audio tours are available from the Hever Shop, Visitor Centre or Castle Entrance. Visitors can explore the magnificent gardens for all seasons which include Italian, Rose and Tudor gardens, topiary, yew maze and splashing water maze, or take a stroll around the informal areas of Sunday Walk and Anne Boleyn’s Walk. Hever hosts a number of special events throughout the season including gardening events with the Head Gardener and his team. Family fun include Jousting Tournaments each summer and is one of our most popular events; visit our website for up to date information on events, prices and opening times. « less

Beautifully maintained gardens. Great walks through the woods around the lake. Boat hire on the lake at week-ends.

We used our gps arrived 1pm cafe not crowded quite nice food. Enjoyed the Italian garden very large walled area and the tulips were magnificant. In another week it would be too late and you should wait until the roses bloom might be 6 weeks away. The castle was great you could do more than an hour its some 3... More

Went on a day with the sun shining which always helps. The grounds were fantastic and in a spring bloom however the roses were not which I have been told is a highlight. The castle is smallish by comparison with others in the broad area but it is still filled with interesting stuff especially from Henry VIII. In July I... More

I have visited this castle several times and loved it to bits - it is my favourite castle because it is small enough to be able to imagine yourself actually living there. The Tudor period is my favourite period of history and this connection adds to its attraction.

Hever castle is just such a beautiful place to visit both in the summer and winter, rain or shine. The gardens are so lovely with plenty of places for picnics. The water maze is great fun but remember to take a change of clothes and the the more traditional maze is also fun. The castle itself is fantastic with such... More

We visited Hever castle on May Bank holiday 2013 and it was a fantastic experience. The castle, though small, has lots to see especially for my six year old. Outside both the six year old and the 18 month old toddler had loads of space to roam and both enjoyed the adventure playground hugely. The tower maze was also a... More

A wonderful place to visit whether with children or grown-ups. The gardens are outstanding and the castle itself is superb – very beautiful, extremely photogenic, very English (British?); try to spend the day here. There is a great deal to see in the castle; lots of rooms, all sorts of different things to interest all kinds of different tastes and... More

Hever Castle is just right. It has all the castle-y things one expects: a moat, a maze, beautiful grounds, a pond, a few restored rooms. On our recent - and first - trip to England, we definitely wanted to see a castle, and what a great choice! We had a picnic next to the pond, and enjoyed the grounds just... More

We went on a Bank Holiday weekend and although it was busy it wasn't a problem, there is always enough room for everyone. The gardens are astounding and so well kept, we went in May so all the tulips, daffodils and pansies were out and it was stunning. Would love to go later in the year when the roses are... More

One of the most famous English Castles on the 'must see' list in the United Kingdom and very influential in the shaping of British Monarchy and indeed the notoriety of King Henry VIII.
