Hever Castle has amazing gardens, and is a great family day out, with lots of stuff for kids to do as well as adults. It's really close to London, but is so completely different. We travelled by train from London Bridge station, and I will say that is was a bit awkward getting to the castle along the "main" road... more

This is a beautiful castle set in lovely grounds. The entrance fee is reasonable at £12 each compared to Leeds castle at £16.50 each! My husband and I visited the castle last Saturday after visiting Leeds castle (not good, very expensive!). Hever is a small castle with a lovely homely feel. If you are intrested in Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn... more

Loved this. Paid with Tesco vouchers which was a bonus, but the kids 11 and 9 enjoyed it as much as we did. Castle itself good, water maze and grounds excellent. Weather was good when we visited which helps, but could have spend longer in the castle if we needed to. more

After a week of seeing "proper" castles I was dubious about this one which is essentially a fortified manor house. Despite complaints from our 4 year old son that there were no knights or swords to be seen it is a magnificent place. Truly beautiful with wonderful gardens, lakes, mazes. Helps that we were there on a very good day... more

Hever Castle is a real gem located less than an hour from London. The grounds are well kept, and there's quite a bit to see (whether history buff, gardener, or child looking for a maze to play in). For children there is an adventure playground and water maze, as well as rowboats, and for adults the paintings, architecture and objects... more

Four friends and I visited Hever Castle on a Sunday in March, and we all loved it. One of our group loves anything to do with the Anne Boleyn era, so she was in seventh heaven. But the rest of us were surprised at how much we loved the castle, too. It's small compared to other castles, but that's part... more

This may have been the highlight to a wonderful vacation in London. Granted-- my mom and I are both Tudor buffs so we enjoyed seeing where Anne Boleyn (& Mary) resided. Regardless, the castle is a wonder and the countryside is gorgeous. We took the train from London Bridge station to Hever Station (just under an hour). The station is... more

First off, I must let everyone know that I am a complete nerd when it comes to Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn, so I was determined to like this castle before I even arrived. However, I was not disappointed. We spend approx 4 hours there and loved every minute. We arrived when the gardens opened, and spent time in the... more

You can visit Hever during the Winter now and while the flowers aren’t in bloom the castle tends to take on a cozier feel than when I’ve visited during the warmer months. To our benefit, Astor chose to preserve as many of the historical architectural elements as possible. This shows and much of the original paneling remains from the time... more
