After some of the sad dilapidation of parts of Margate and concrete brutalism of others it was a delight to wander round these charming streets, full of interesting shops and restaurants.

The whole place is so run down-mostly closed-and what is open is for some reason overpriced!

It's so nice to see Margate's fortunes changing. Pity the High St is such a difference. I hope the Turner Centre will attract the 'right' type of tourist who will shop in the town. Let's wait and see!

Having recently undergone major overhaul with the introduction of many unique and individual shops, Margate old Town is a wonderful place to explore. Plently of interesting and unique shops, cafes and retaurants. Well worth an afternoon stroll.

This is a great place to visit with lots of individual shops. Owners, in general, go out of thier way to welcome you, tell you about Margate and all of thier lovely wares.

Blackbird Gallery for artwork/designer made, Junk Deluxe for retro finds with RG Scotts building top of hill near Shell Grotto. Other retro shops and galleries interesting. Also we loved the Harbour Cafe Bar Kitchen at 10 The Parade which has arty/boho interior and lovely fresh food.

There are some very nice restaurants here and they have tried to make this a family friendly place. But don't wander into Margate proper as it is very run down.
