We visited Conkers at the weekend and were extremely disappointed. We had higher expectations having read the leaflet. It was too expensive, the train had broken down, the site looked tired, the signage around the park was poor, some of the playground equipment had broken, the Caterpillar trial (for under 5 years) was unbelievable - tatty musical instruments made of... more

Pros Great for young kids if you live locally Lovely friendly staff My kids adore the outside water play and train, the outside playground on Watrerside is good too Cons Not much to do in the winter as mainly outside Very expensive for what you get if only visiting once Inside interactive displays often broken The upper climbing area indoors... more

It is a bit hard to categorise Conkers, but it has indoor and outdoor kids play areas, interpretative environmental displays, and outdoor nature trails. The site has a few cafes but I suggest packing a picnic, walking for awhile, and then enjoying the reclaimed 'natural' beauty over lunch at one of the many picnic tables. I also suggest stopping at... more

I went to Conkers a few years ago and remembered being quite impressed with it so thought a return visit was in order. The prices seem to have gone up considerably - comments on this site from the Conkers staff mention a family ticket as costing less than £20. Less than a year later it is a few pence short... more

Dear DL Clarke, Many thanks for the note. I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your visit to Conkers. There has been a price increase this year which we believe offers excellent value for money – many of our visitors spend over five hours at Conkers. In the past we have only introduced modest price increases and...

We visited Conkers on October 31st, during the half term holiday. My two sons, aged 9 and 4, were very disappointed because they could not ride on the Conkachoo train. They also discovered that exhibits and arts/crafts events were closed early. It transpired that this was all due to preparations for a halloween event later in the day. We felt... more

i have just got back from conkers, and too be honest, i'm a little disappointed. As it was the last day of the summer holidays, my husband and me decided to have one last day out. As we had bought a play and explore ticket from twinlakes, we decided to use up a token on a visit here. Initially, it... more

Conkers has a large play area with numerous slides and many other fun activities. It has a small land train (which is free!) to take you to the other side of it's vast grounds where you'll find an indoor activity zone. For people who would like to learn more about nature this is brilliant and is very hands on for... more

In common with other reviewers here I found that you can probably get better value elsewhere in the region with a little imagination. The grounds are nice but there are plenty of free woods, walks and play areas which would give similar benefit. The inside activities include some educational interactive exhibits about nature, power and recycling - a good percentage... more

Thank you for your comments, which are useful. We believe Conkers offers excellent value for money with a family ticket for 2 adults and 2 children priced at under £20. A visit can easily last over five hours! We have invested in new exhibits including the Enchanted Forest Adventure and simulated tree top walk, which are very popular. It is...

i have just got in from a few hours at Conkers with my disabled teenage son. To say i was dissappointed is a total understatement. We had only travelled from Derby and it was our first visit but never again. the advertising makes this venue look far better than it really is. one of the key points they push is... more

not enough bins around the place, for a bank holiday, not geared up for it. No hot food on sale by the play area, as was advertised, the barbecue not open and this was an ideal day. The attractions don't always have an explanation of what its for, like the metal twirly handle to turn and make water come out.... more
