We had an interesting afternoon at this Castle. It's very cold inside so take extra clothes. We couldn't take the children into the dungeons and torture chambers......our choice....but the adults loved it!! Cafe very good too.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Chillingham, complete with door that opened and shut on its own! You are left to poke about wherever you want, pick things up, put them down. This castle is not your every day visitors attraction,however we loved it. If you have trouble with steps this castle is no good for you,but for us it was great, going up and down all the little twisty steps and hall ways finding rooms full of dusty old knick knacks was lovely. +ve you will NOT have seen anything like this before, the collections are very diverse and varied. -ve very little information in the rooms, few staff to offer insights into collections. -ve eating facilities not great. Overall a good couple of hours slot in if you have some spare time to fill.
