A hauntingly beautiful ruin on the edge of the sea cliff. A great short walk from Craster
Dunstanburgh Castle is a picturesque ruin situated on a rocky cliff and you have to walk about 20 minutes to reach it. When we visited in April 2012, there were Kittiwakes, Shag and Razorbills nesting on the cliffs upon which the Castle stands and we stood for ages watching the Kittiwakes flying over the path to the mere on the...

The atmosphere of this place is truly amazing. Considering that one cannot drive up to it and instead must walk a distance, the lonely and rather spooky feel about the place is maintained.
Beautiful walk to the castle right along the coast when we went it was a lovely breezy day very pleasant.
I have visited Dunstanburgh twice and loved it both times. The first time we walked round the castle and bought the guide book etc. It was lovely even in the rain.
The second time, we took the dog (lead essential in the sheep filled field) and spent a wonderful couple of hours rock pooling, making our way steadily up to...

Unless you enjoy walking don't bother with the long walk. Maybe it was because it started to rain and was icy cold! It obviously didn't help! Sea views fantastic though.
This castle offers a lovely walk by the coast and among grazing sheep- up and down the coastline. Having no idea what was on offer at Dunstanburgh, we could not have been more delighted with our journey to and back to the castle grounds.
This is a brilliant place to visit, maintained by English Heritage/National Trust. Lovely long coastal walk with spectacular views. Castle is a wonderful treat - atmospheric, beautiful, brooding. Pet friendly location, took my dog (had to be on a lead, but still had plenty of fun). Would definitely recommend this destination as a brilliant day out for family, children, photographers,...

The walk (which is an easy one) to the castle along the coast line was windswept and rugged. The ruins themselves provide a stunning...

Great walk along a fabulous coastline to a historic and stunning castle. We went with my 76 year old mum who managed the path well. There were beautiful views and an amazing story behind the building. Well worth the walk and good value parking in Craster ..... £2 for day!
