This is the most amazing bookshop in the UK, it is huge and being set in an old railway station just adds to the atmosphere. As soon as you walk in you can’t help but be blown away, and feel excited just like a small child. In the winter it is the best time to go as they light fires... More

I have been going to Barter Books for the last 20 years since it opened and have loved watching it grow and use more and more of the beautiful old station building where it is housed. I can happily spend many hours browsing the wonderful selection of books and have to stop myself leaving with too many. It now has... More

Worth a stroll around if you are in the area. A vast array of second hand books including some rare and signed copies. Unique claim to fame is that it's the original home of the formerly unpublished WWII "Keep Calm" poster. Nice little place for tea and biscuits.

This second hand book shop in an old railway station is the perfect venue for anyone who likes to browse all types of books. There are open fires, comfy seats, a buffet cafe, clean toilets, it's dog friendly, the staff are friendly and it is just simply wonderful. A real 'must visit' place. We spent two hours there and didn't... More

Loved this shop so much we went back both days of our stay. Loved the barter biscuits and 30p cups of tea! The kids really liked the train and the big comfy chairs xxx Dogs are welcome too!
