Set in incredible grounds Cragside house has something to offer everyone. Home to Lord Armstrong and the first place in the World to be lit by hydro electricity, it was visited by royalty and dignitaries from all around the world and provides a fascinating insight into the Victorian era. The walks around the grounds have been carved through the rock... More

Cragside is a fantastic house where you can go back in time. Loads to explore inside the house and lots af gardens to explore. Take a picnic and enjoy the wonders of the Victrian inventors home. Make sure you have a full day as you will need it.

Nothing was too much trouble for the people at the house. What a stunning place to visit. It was fascinating and so much to see. You need a whole day as the gardens are extensive, and the house is worth spending time in.

Spent a great day out here. Wonderful tranquil walk and a lovely home to view. Only complaint was we must have hit a tour group of pensioners in the home, as it was a bit crowded and very slow. This was surprising for a Wednesday.

This is a really interesting Victorian inventors house, with lots of differnt things to look at. The gardens were great, we especially loved the maze. Luckily we have got a small car so were able to drive round the estate.

Cash-only entry, if you're not a NT member, so we had to go into Rothbury to find a cash machine. Lovely take-away coffee and cakes from the still-room, and you can sit outside the house on one of three long benches if its sunny to enjoy. Go have a look in the orangery in the formal gardens, and make sure... More

Don't miss it, the grounds are stunning and the house is grand but homely. The grounds are vast but you can drive around the estate and park up for short walks.

We have been up to Northumberland several times, but we never went here because on our way up we were always disappointed that the house only opens at 1pm. This time we planned our trip to visit Cragside when coming back down south. Now we have been, we were very impressed, it is the best National Trust place we have... More
