A very scenic track through the temperate rainforest. We had booked Premier seats for this trip which was very interesting, commentary throughout, stops along the way to explore the areas, and food and drink as part of the Premier ticket. The staff were lovely and helpful and the restored steam train made the journey a great experience. The trip on... More

After a long drive to Queenstown the train trip was a highlight. The views were amazing and the staff friendly. The 35km trip on the West Coast Wilderness Railway was made even more interesting with stops along the way at Lower Landing, Dubbil Barril, Rinadeena before reaching the port of Strahan. The train journey crosses the wild King River and... More

Originally booked the Premier trip from Queenstown to Strahan for the 24th of March and was informed when booking via phone that train would only go half-way and then return to Queenstown due to a landslide further down near Strahan.Would this be OK and all standard Premier inclusions would still apply. OK, all the trip would be via steam train!!... More

We paid for premier class tickets which put us in the second (end) carriage with a nice rear view and an outside "balcony" which was actually quite a treat. They did make you feel 1st class with lots of food and drink provided as part of the ticket cost. The trip is through some magnificent bush. One side of the... More

all very well run and an amazing history on display. The one feature of the day which was a little poorly handled was the train stop at Lynchford for gold panning. A few simple instructions would have helped the group get more from the experience. eg: gold is HEAVY, so it will catch in that little groove in the gold... More

Thomas, very informative and entertaining, the gluten free food I was especially provided was great, without any fuss.

Would highly recommend this trip, because it was low season we got the premier carriage for half price and it was brilliant. The food was lovely and the service fantastic. I learnt so much on this trip, history that I was never aware of. Well worth it.

This was a tourist adventure definitely worth taking! We left early in the morning and didn't get back until late in the afternoon, we had several stops on the way up to Queenstown and a very generous lunch of a salad roll, chocolate truffles, apple, cheese and crackers, all we had to buy was a drink!

We loved the trip. great scenery and funny and educational tour guide Tom. We didnt bother with the premium upgrade and we were not disappointed. The lunch supplied is a lunch box with salad roll, choc truffles, cheese and crackers and an apple. You need to buy the drinks. beer, wine and hot and cold drinks. we enjoyed our lunch... More
