The wine at this winery is not really good. The cheese is OK at best. The location is fun though. It is worth the visit to sit out in the beautiful weather and drink.
My wife and me went there for our anniversary and my birthday, we visit the winery everytime we visit and we love it there, people are friendly and they have some delicious wine. u can try samples of the wine, they have a delicious spreadable cheese and cracker tray u can order.....
We visited Put In Bay in June of 2013 and stopped at Heinemann Winery. We decided to go on their tour of the winery and crystal cave. The young men actually argued in front of us who was going to lead the tour. Needless to say it was aq hurry up and get out tour. e were going to buy... More
I wanted to sample wine here, but had to pay $2.50 for a sample. It's not there fault as I didn't realize the Ohio doesn't allow free samples at in state wineries. The wine I did sample was good and I bought a bottle. Wanted to tour the cave, but knew we couldn't since we had our dog with us.
We visited this winery while vacationing here. I don't think they were very friendly. We couldn't get much information out of them, and they didn't offer any at all. It was end of season, and I think they wanted to get out of there. We did not do the tour of the cave. The gift shop was nice and the... More
I have been here with friends twice, and both times have loved being there. There is a patio/ garden to sit and try their various wines. The wines in my opinion were very good, and reasonably priced. The staff was very friendly and courteous. I look forward to returning there on my next trip to Put-In-Bay.
We went to visit Heineman's as part of my sister's birthday weekend. We toured the Crystal Cave and the winery's processing areas. After both tours we got a free glass of wine. I thought that was a great deal for just $7. I am looking forward to going back to taste more of the wines. The one I got to... More
We visited the crystal cave/winery on our recent trip to Put In Bay. The cave was interesting but small. The winery tour was short but educational. We sampled the wines but didn't find any to our liking. These wines were generally very sweet. If that kind of wine is to your taste, then you will enjoy the tour.
Not worth it- especially after going to the winery on the main drag near the Crew's Nest. It's cheap wine- but cheap wine can be good- unfortunately not this time.
We are sorry that you didn't have the best experience here at Heineman Winery. We are Ohio's oldest family owned winery and have been producing wine for 125 years. We produce wines that range from sweet, medium and dry, to everything in between. We enter "our" wines in different competitions and most of them win awards year after year. Considering,... More
