I often vist the Lava Lands Visitor Center with my daughter, and usually atleast one of her friends. We always enjoy ourselves and the view. If you need to get out of the house for some fresh air and a little exercise then you will want to visit the lava beds! more
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one stymied by the open dates! I also expected it to be open based on the website information, only to get there and find it closed. Even worse, it is not just the visitor's center that is closed, but the entire area around it, so it's not like you can get out... more
We were in Bend this past week (September 17 - 21) and wanted to do the drive to Lava Butte. We had been to the monument a couple of years before and couldn't do the drive then because the road up to the top was closed due to construction. Try to catch one of the Ranger talks on the geological features of the Lava Lands. The whole family will enjoy this place. more
Lava Lands Visitor center is an informative and low key way for families to learn about volcanoes in the best way possible, to crawl around inside of one!
