I could not have conjured up a better guide than Captain Carrie Newell Professor of Marine Biology and Gray Whale Researcher/ Expert to have taken a Whale Watching Excursion with! She wasn't merely just a guide but really became apart of our tour group and a person who's spirit added to our overall adventure. I had little prior knowledge of... More

I've been out at sea many times, but I have to say this was one of my best experiences yet. The Zodiac is a fun ride and Carrie is super knowledgeable about the bay and its inhabitants. Of course the highlight of the trip was watching the gray whales!

I started out almost disappointed because the ocean was pretty wild the day before our trip was scheduled, but the next day people at the dock were saying it was the calmest they'd seen in awhile. As someone previously said, Carrie runs a class act. She first checked our jackets to see if they'd be warm enough. It was sunny... More

We wanted to go out and see whales. A local told us about Carrie, (we drove down to the docks and thought "what are the chances") and we found her ! What an experience! You have an expert on whales take you out on a personalized tour, with experience and knowledge she shares with you. It was only us, another... More

Carrie Newell runs a class act whale watching excursion and I don't give a ten to just anybody. We went on a 12 mile trip in hopes of finding a whale or 3 and we got the education of a lifetime about the sea between Depoe Bay & Newport, Oregon. Safety, professionalism, friendly and an E-Ticket jaunt we got for... More

We chose this particular charter because of the promise of being shown about by a Marine Biologist. When we arrived at the dock at our appointed time we were informed that we would be having a "substitute captain" because Carrie was spending time with her family who were in town. The sub was very nice, but clearly unfamiliar with the... More

We have never been on Carrie's boat. But doesn't matter I am still a fan of hers. We have seen Carrie several times, some in person some on her boat. We are part owners at Whale Pointe. we go maybe 4 times per year. Carrie has given presentations there. We have been more than once. She is always informative and... More

After reading about Carrie Newell and her whale trips on the Oregon Forums for the past few years, I was looking forward with great anticipation to taking my kids and grandchildren on one of her whale watching excursions as part of family gathering on the coast. Along with me (I wasn't going to miss this) were, my son, daughter and... More
