A great, albeit short, nature hike from Sellwood down to the water off the springwater trail. Nesting Osprey or Bald Eagles frequent the area, along with lots of others for bird enthusiasts. There's a dirt trail worth circling on the interior, as well. A relaxing walk on the paved part, but be aware of bike traffic.

Its not too far out of town and provides the same feel as being in the deep forest.

Oaks Bottom is, well, essentially a swampland, but not the icky, alligator-infested kind. It is one of the best places to view (or hear) amphibian wildlife (not the bullfrogs, they're invasive) and birds. My school, Winterhaven, has a scholarship program with Portland Parks and Rec. so the middle school goes and helps out there every month. However, there is still...
