Glencairn was once the home of Raymond and Mildred Pitcairn. It was built between 1928 and 1939. Glencairn became a museum after the death of Mildred Pitcairn in 1979.Let our guides show you the best the Museum has to offer by taking our Highlights Tour. Tours leave regularly on Mondays through Fridays at 2:30 pm and Saturdays at 1:00, 1:30, 2:30 and 3:00 pm. The Museum is only accessible through guided tours, with the exception of our four Festival Days. You can see all of the galleries through a self-guided tour during those events. Highlights Tours have a maximum of ten people per tour. Reservations are strongly suggested. The Museum's 1st floor, including the Great Hall, Upper Hall, and Bird Room, is open Saturdays FREE of charge, from 1:00–4:30 pm. A FREE cell phone tour of Glencairn's exterior, 1st floor, and select galleries, is also available. Please join us this Saturday for FREE Coffee in the Castlees and time periods. « less

great to visit as local museum in Bryn Athyn and Huntingdon Valley, but I do not recommend as an outstanding attraction in Philadelphia, which has so much more.fun to do cell phone tour or when there are special events. enjoy walking the grounds. and go to Bryn Athyn cathedral (which also is open for tours with limited hours).

The building structure, family lore and antiquities are three great reasons to visit and take a tour. Tours don't occur too often. Call and book one. Seasonal events are interesting. This castle like mansion was a home that the Pitcairn family built in the 1930s and is now a wonderful museum which shows off the house with its great views, chapel and great room. The art work and artifacts cover ancient times. When we visited during the Smithsonian Museum Day (free admission at the time), there were Tibetan monks making... More
