The Maritime museum in Erie is easy to drive to with lots of free parking. The cost of the visit is small, and so is the museum. Very interesting and neat and nicely done. IF the rebuilt brig Niagara is at the museum (and not out sailing in the lake), then the museum becomes OUTSTANDING. The ship itself is worth... More

Interesting counter-point to our Port Dover (Ontario) Maritime Museum - not apologetic enough for the role Erie played in the burning of Port Dover!

Extremely interesting. If you like history stop by the maritime museum. If you time it right the brig Niagara will be in port. Don't miss it when you visit Erie.

Did Perry give up the ship right before or right after he plagiarized "Don't give up the ship"? Visit the museum to find out. Check ahead to see if the Niagara is in port.

Great museum if you like ships or the war of 1812. As a Canadian, was interesting to see from the American perspective. Wonderful tour, hosted by volunteer Pat, pristine museum, great artifacts, a real gem. Spent about 2 hours there. Could be there longer if the Niagara was in dock.
