The Pennsylvania State Capitol is easily one of the most impressive buildings I have seen in the U.S. The craftmanship approaches that seen in Europe. I took a 9 AM tour of the capitol on Saturday, October 3, 2009. There were only about 8 people on the tour, though it would probably be very crowded on weekdays with 4th graders.... more
I took the Sunday afternoon 3pm tour on 10/11. I wish I could remember the tour guide's name but she was great and very knowledgeable. The building is beautiful. This is a beautiful building - inside & out. Even a nice photo op of the downtown area from atop the steps of the capital building. Bring your camera. I would encourage photographers to go on Sunday when parking is ample curbside, as opposed to a weekday. more
I am not an expert on State Capitals, but one of the individuals on tour with us sure was. He claimed to have seen 48 out of 50 of our nations State Capital (he has not seen the State Capitals of Ohio and Connecticut). He said he compares all the State Capitals to this one. Enough said... I have been to a bunch of capitols, and this is among the nicer. The PA Supreme Court is in the building. The dome is really nice, and it is a historic building. more
This is one of the most beautiful buildings in PA.,both inside and out. Tours of the building are available every day, except certain holidays.
